Best Cardio to Lose Weight

It’s no secret that cardio is not everyone’s favorite thing to do, but regardless, it still should to be included in your workout routine to give your body its best results. The good news is, unlike most trainers, I believe cardio 3 times a week is sufficient to start seeing the results you want, when combined with weight training. The best cardio to lose weight changes from person to person.

If change in your body isn’t enough motivation for you to take up doing cardo, I’ve listed additional health benefits that cardio has on the body below:

  1. Weight loss

  2. Stronger heart and lungs

  3. Increased bone density

  4. Reduced stress, heart disease, and some types of cancer

  5. Temporary relief from depression and anxiety

  6. More confidence about how you feel and how you look

  7. Better sleep

For those of you that are daunted by cardio because you don’t like running, I’ve listed out some other, arguably more effective, types of cardio for you to try along with how many calories each activity burned per hour.

  1. Walking (Burns 300-400 Calories Per Hour)

  2. Running (Burns Around 600 Calories Per Hour)

  3. Cycling (Burns Around 600 Calories Per Hour)

  4. Rowing (Burns Around 840 Calories Per Hour)

  5. Swimming (Burns Around 600 Calories Per Hour)

  6. Jumping Rope (Burns Over 1000 Calories Per Hour)

Along with these cardio options you could also do my favorite type which is body weight cardio training. Body weight cardio training is great for the body and makes your weight goals possible. I do and offer these same workouts through my 12 minute workout videos available on my website.

The moral of the story is, if you’re not the biggest cardio fan you don’t have to worry. You’ll still be able to reach your fitness goals without overloading on cardio workouts. Cardio will help you lose weight, but over doing it will actually make you lose muscle and become “skinny fat.” If you want to lose a lot of fat, the reality is “abs are made in the kitchen.” Yes, 75% of fat loss comes from eating clean. With that being said, put more effort into eating right verses overdoing it on cardio :)
